Hire a caterer for your event

Catering is usually the biggest line in an event budget, so it pays to compare. Post your guest count, dietary needs and service style on EVE and local caterers respond with menus and per-person pricing.

What's usually included

  • Menu tasting or sample menu before you commit
  • Kitchen staff, servers and, if needed, bar service
  • Plates, glassware, linens and setup (sometimes billed separately)
  • Cleanup and removal after service

How much does it cost?

US catering commonly runs $25–$50 per guest for buffet or family style, $60–$150+ per guest for plated dinners, and $15–$30 per guest for cocktail-style appetizers, before service charges.

These are indicative US ranges — the quotes you receive on EVE come directly from local providers for your date, city and guest count.

How to choose the right one

  • Compare quotes on the same basis — some include staff, rentals and gratuity, some do not.
  • Confirm how dietary restrictions and children's plates are counted.
  • Ask about the final headcount deadline and the cancellation policy.

How hiring works on EVE

  1. 1. Post your event. Date, city, guest count and what you need — it takes a couple of minutes and costs nothing.
  2. 2. Get applications. Local caterers who are actually free on your date apply with their portfolio and price.
  3. 3. Message and book. Chat directly, compare, and book the one you like. You pay the provider, not EVE.

Frequently asked questions

Buffet or plated service?

Buffet is cheaper and faster for large groups; plated service feels more formal but needs more staff and adds cost per guest. Family style sits in between.

How far in advance should I book caterers?

For weekend and holiday dates, 4–8 weeks ahead is comfortable. For smaller weekday events, one to two weeks is often enough. On EVE you can post your date and see who is actually available before you commit.

Do I pay EVE to find caterers?

No. Posting an event request, receiving applications, and messaging providers is free for clients. You pay the provider directly, on the terms you agree with them.
